Detailed Information

Taguig-Pateros District Hospital, usually just TPDH, is a government hospital in Taguig City, Metro Manila. It’s a district-level facility — meaning it’s run by the local government rather than the national DOH — and it’s licensed as a Level 2 general hospital. Pateros is the smallest town in Metro Manila and doesn’t have a hospital of its own, so TPDH has effectively been its hospital by default for decades. Taguig residents and Pateros residents are both its core catchment.

How it fits into the local health system

It’s the referral point for the city’s health centers and barangay health stations. Cases that a rural health unit can’t handle — a delivery that goes sideways, a kid with severe pneumonia, a stroke — get sent up to TPDH. From there, the genuinely complicated stuff goes further up to the big public tertiary centers like PGH, Jose Reyes, or East Avenue, or to private hospitals if the family can pay. That tiering matters: TPDH is designed as the middle rung, not the top one, and it gets squeezed hard because it’s the rung most people can actually afford.

The city government subsidizes care heavily. Taguig has run a health card program giving residents free or deeply discounted services at city facilities, and the local government covers a big chunk of TPDH’s operating budget. Pateros, for its part, has historically chipped in and issued referrals for its own residents. PhilHealth is billed where applicable.

Services

It runs a 24/7 emergency room, and the inpatient side covers internal medicine, pediatrics, OB-gynecology, and surgery. There’s an outpatient department, a dialysis unit, a laboratory, imaging (X-ray, ultrasound), a pharmacy, and a lying-in/maternity service. It’s not a place for cardiac catheterization or neurosurgery, but it handles the bread-and-butter of a dense, working-class catchment: deliveries, dengue, TB, hypertension and diabetes complications, trauma from the roads, and the endless stream of respiratory infections that come with crowding.
